1968: A. Mirsky, Davidson, and Crippa show that more than 60% of the RNA labeled during oogenesis in Xenopus laevis is synthesized during the lampbrush stage and ist\ stored during the remaining months of oocyte maturation. This long-lived mRNA is stored for use in early embryogenesis.
